Reporting LIVE from McDonalds
at 6950 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX
February 16, 2013 at 12:45 pm CST
Today, theives broke into 7015 Greenville Avenue, Suites 100 and 150 sometime between sundown last night and 10:59 am this morning. One of the employees at the Daman Tax Express (located at 7015 Greenville Avenue, Suite 150, Dallas, TX 75231) inside the CYNJOE African Market first noticed a broken window immediately to the right of the still locked door of the vacant, but recently leased suite 100. He first contacted the owner of the CYNJOE African Market at approximately 10:45 am, but after about 15 minutes elapsed with no response, he called the Dallas Police Department at 911, who dispatched an officer who arrived at the scene at approximately 11:30 am.
This area has been identified by DART and the City of Dallas as a HIGH CRIME area, and specifically a 5 point Intersection (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickery_Meadow,_Dallas) where the intersections of US 75 & Park Lane and intersections of Park Lane and Fair Oaks Avenue and Ridgecrest Road all intersect. However, according to at least one business owner/employee/resident, there typically is no police presence at 7015 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231 between the hours of 11 pm and and 10 am. This man who Dance4One has chosen not to identify went on to state that "While there is often up to 10 officers in the area immediately south (Greenville Avenue and Park Lane by the 7-11) of this location, there typically are no officers within the immediate boundries of this particular location."
Around 11:00 am a man who described himself to Dan Getz with Dance4One as the "maintenance man" for the owner of the CYNJOE African Market arrived, after the owner apparently contacted him (who was contacted by the aforementioned empllyee of the Doman Tax Express), who Getz with Dance4One has also chosen not to name. He proceeded to unlock the door (despite the fact that the broken window allowed easy access for a grown man to crawl through) and was able to confirm 1) nobody was still inside (despite personal belongings including blankets and sleeping bags being present) 2) the theif or thieves apparently not only stole some medical equipment including a medical bed but had also broken through and entered the suite 150 next door to also steal a TV that was mounted on the wall at the Doman Tax Express.
Dan Getz with Dance4One was able to speak briefly with the Dallas Police Officer dispatched to the scene (who had just requested an Officer of the Crime Scene Unit to also be dispatched). This officer was able to confirm that a crime had apparently taken place; this area was in fact a 5 point area with so many crimes taking place that the Dallas Police orce is often fatigued and unable to keep up with the backlog of calls and officers that are dispatched on a "continual basis"; that most Dallas Police Officers have not received any type of raise for at least several years; that there are MANY Officers available and willing to work armed security as Off-Duty Police Officers, for around $40 to $50 per hour and often include the full use and presence of their Patrol Car or Vehicle, as well as ALWAYS including the FULL resources available to ALL on-duty POICE OFFICERS.
This crime occurred unbeknownst to the employees of the McDonalds across the street (whose drive through is open 24-7) and the employees of the Fish Gallery (based out of Houston, TX) which remained secure throughout the alleged break-in and theft, and has been described by at least one employee of the Fish Gallery as "nearly impossible to penetrate", based on the extensive surveilance and alarm system installed at their Greenville Avenue location.
Due to subsequent business obligations and appointments, Getz was "forced" to leave CYNJOE African Market before the Dallas Police Crime Unit arrived at the scene. As more significant details are available, the Dance'In NewZboy (sydicated reporter for Dance4One) will continue to post that information via this blog at www.Dance4One.blogspot.com.
